Estimated Release Date: Closed Proposed Resolution: MOTOR stated: According to the "Guide To Estimating: Many OEMs recommend a pre- and post-repair diagnostic scan on all vehicles involved in a collision that could reveal pre-accident or accident-related damage. Please refer to OEM position statement and repair procedures for more information. Due to the variety of scan tools used in the automotive repair industry i.e. OEM or aftermarket can impact the speed of DTC retrieval; amount of vehicle modules a scan tool needs to access which can vary considerably from vehicle and OE; amount of time to research what the recovered DTCs are from the scan performed; the number of scans performed until the collision related DTCs are corrected and cleared. These outlined variances' make developing one estimated work time to cover all vehicles impossible for MOTOR. MOTOR recommends an on-the-spot evaluation to determine an appropriate estimated time to perform these types of diagnostic scans. CCC defines In Process Scan as: Any scan completed after pre-repair scan and before post-repair scan.
